About Us

Founded in 1996 by a group of parents, teachers and carers, Lifeworks has blossomed into a well-established organisation of 24 full-time employees, 31 part-time employees, an ever-changing number of volunteers, and a reputation for care, quality and achieving our goals. Most importantly, we deliver what we set out to deliver -- projects dedicated to providing learning-disabled children and young adults with confidence and life-skills that ensure a self-sustainable future, that promote a fluid transition into adulthood, and that encourage their inclusion in the community as valued and active members. We are a dynamic charity, passionate about our purpose and ever addressing the enormous range of needs of what historically has been an excluded group of people.

Lifeworks aims to tackle exclusion, disadvantage and inequality as concerns children and young adults with learning disabilities.

We are a special charity because we're ordinary people; ordinary people with a passionate and tenacious drive who have never lost sight nor belief in our core mission. We are a hands-on organisation that communicates with our beneficiaries on a day-to-day basis. Our beneficiaries, their parents, carers and teachers are our main source to identify priority projects, and to guide the charity in the direction of greatest need.
