NEW KOOL CLUB PLANNED

Lifeworks are pleased to announce that Kool Club will be re-launched in April 09, subject to sufficient interest, as an Annual Programme

for Life-skills. It will cover all the same topics, such as using public transport, handling money, food preparation, nutrition, involvement in

the local community, sporting activities and will include exciting trips out and about.

The planning and monitoring the re-launched club, will support the need for formal reporting on the benefits of the programme and the

involvement of members and parent/carers in this process is imperative.

Kool Club will be aimed at young people aged between 14 and 18 years and members will be able to attend on a fortnightly basis,

between 10am and 4pm on a Saturday. As options on the venue/s are still open, we are seeking feedback from parent/carers, to

ascertain the most popular location (given enough interest, there could be more than one).

The project has been generously supported by Lloyds TSB Foundation, allowing us to offer the programme at a subsidised cost

of £1,200 per annum.

You may be able to get help with the cost via 'Fair Access to Carers Breaks' scheme.

Advice is available on the 'Contact a Family' website follow the link from our useful links page

To express your interest in the programme and your prefered location/s, please complete our online

Registration Form or call Jo on 01803 840744.

Race Night a Huge Success!

Our first Race Night, held in June at Buckfastleigh's Globe Inn, was a fun night out and raised nearly £1,000. for the charity!

Britannia Royal Naval College Lends a Few Hands

Not only has the Britannia Royal Naval College donated twice now to Lifeworks (to the tune of £750), but has provided a day's

worth of manpower to landscape the garden at Robins Respite & Life Skills Centre. On Sunday 16th May several officer cadets

gave up their day off to sort out shrubbery, walls, level areas and a water feature so that children staying at the Centre could enjoy

the outside as well as a beautiful view from their bedroom windows. Many thanks from all of us at Lifeworks to the BRNC for its

ongoing and invaluable support!

Robins Respite and Life Skills Centre is getting a new look plus a lovely new extension.

If all goes smoothly we hope that building and landscaping will all be complete by autumn 2008.
