Support Workers (Night & Day Staff)

Salary scale: £8.00 – £8.75 per hour (plus additional premium for night duty)

Working hours:  Night shift and Day shift patterns available (Full-time, Early to School and Casual)

We are looking for full-time, early to school and casual Support Workers to join our night-shift and day-shift teams at our residential and short breaks home in Dartington, Totnes, where we provide a 24 hour a day, seven day a week service to support children and young people with learning disabilities, many of which have complex needs.

If you have a friendly, encouraging and easy going attitude as well as good communication skills and the enthusiasm to engage with children and young people with learning disabilities, we would love to hear from you.

Ideally you will have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and have previous experience in this type of environment. Though this is not essential, a willingness to gain the level 3 diploma within 2 years will be required.

Team Leader – Nights (full-time)

Salary scale: £20,571 – £23,233 per annum + shift premium

We currently have a vacancy at our Children’s Residential & Short Breaks Home in Dartington, Totnes which provides a 24 hour a day, seven day a week service, to our children and young people.

We are looking a full-time Team Leader to lead and manage our night and early morning shifts, individuals who share our passion and commitment in delivering an ‘outstanding’ service for the young people we work with and support.

Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a similar environment at a supervisory level and hold an NVQ level 4 in Health & Social Care or Management (or recognised equivalent ) although this qualification is not essential a willingness to gain it will be required and we will support you to do so.

Lifeworks College

Learning Support Assistant

Hours: Term-time only (40 weeks per annum)
Salary: £12097 per annum based on a 1320 annualised hour contract

Lifeworks College is a small independent specialist college for students with learning disabilities based in Dartington, Totnes which in February 2016 was judged by OFSTED as ‘Good’.

As part of the ongoing development of the College we are now seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work flexibly, collaboratively and take specific responsibilities under the direction of a teacher to deliver education and training to learning disabled students. We are looking for individuals to be a key person in supporting our students who will inspire and encourage them through the transition from school and delivering the students stated outcomes to enable them to participate in independent living and working.

Applicants must have 5 A* – C grades at GCSE (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent) as well as excellent IT skills.  In addition, recent experience of working with children/young people with learning difficulties within an education setting is essential.  Experience of working with complex & challenging behaviour is desirable.

Sesame Residential Care Home, Torquay

Care Workers

Salary scale: £8.00 – £8.75 per hour (plus additional premium for night duty)
Working hours:  Permanent, Full-time and casual hours available

We are looking for full-time and casual Support Workers to join our team at our residential home for young adults with complex learning disabilities. It offers a safe environment, enabling residents to explore their potential and develop their level of independence with help from caring and skilled support staff.

As a Care Worker, you will join our care home in Torquay providing support to young adults with complex learning disabilities. Responsible, dependable and committed, as a Care Worker, you must have a friendly, encouraging and easy-going attitude, as well as great communication skills.

It would be an advantage if you had previous experience of safe holding techniques, however this is by no means essential. Completion of a safeguarding foundation course would also be beneficial, as would a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Although it is not a prerequisite, successful applicants will be expected to obtain the Care Certificate within an agreed timeframe.

Casual Support Worker

We are looking for Support Workers to join our bank of casual staff to work at either Robins, our residential and short breaks home for children and young people in Dartington, Totnes or Sesame, our Residential Home for young adults in Torquay where we provide a 24 hour a day, seven day a week service to support our residents with with learning disabilities many of which have complex needs.

You should have a friendly, encouraging and easygoing attitude as well as good communication skills and the enthusiasm to engage with the children and young people with learning disabilities making sure that they are looked after in a safe, enabling and supportive environment whilst providing opportunities for learning, having fun, participation, developing their independent skills and building relationships.

Ideally you should hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and have previous experience in this type of environment although this is not essential as you will be encouraged and supported to gain the level 3 diploma.
